AMES, Iowa—Reiman Gardens is renaming a popular boardwalk within the gardens in honor of its volunteers. A special announcement regarding its renaming was made at Reiman Gardens’ annual Volunteer Appreciation Night on Friday, February 2, 2024. The pathway will be renamed the “Volunteer Legacy Boardwalk” in honor of the thousands of individuals who have contributed their time and efforts to make Reiman Gardens one of the top gardens in the Midwest over the last 29 years.

Approximately 100 individuals and members of various service groups attended the event, along with Reiman Gardens staff, who celebrated their achievements (including more than 18,000 hours of service time) over the last year. The night included a video and slide deck of various individual and group achievements, trivia, food, crafts, and a heartfelt thank you from outgoing director Ed Lyon.

Reiman Gardens is planning a ribbon-cutting ceremony later this year to commemorate the new pathway officially.
