30 Years of Reiman Gardens

Reiman Gardens is thrilled to celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2025. Since its official dedication on September 16, 1995, Reiman Gardens has blossomed into a 17-acre oasis on the Iowa State University campus, inspiring guests worldwide through the beauty of nature, educational experiences, and innovative exhibits.

Reiman Gardens has grown into a nationally recognized destination since its humble beginnings as a small garden near the Iowa State University football stadium. With its iconic butterfly wing, award-winning garden designs, and beloved mascot Elwood “The World’s Largest Concrete Gnome,” the Gardens remain a vital hub for horticultural inspiration, education, and tourism.

“Reiman Gardens has always been more than just a garden—it's a place where people come to learn, celebrate, and connect with nature,” said Christine Prescott, Director of Reiman Gardens. “This anniversary is a celebration of our past and a launch into our future.”

Guests of all ages are invited to join the Botanical Bash and help celebrate 30 years of beauty in bloom. More details and ticket information are available here.
